A.W.N.U.T.S.

There used to be a social group that promoted model train building that was more whimsical than realistic. It used the acronym AWNUTS as an identity. Its meaning is Always Whimsical, Not Usually To Scale. It was model trains on a non-scale whimsical theme. It was all about having fun with imaginative model trains, with nothing sacred or necessarily realistic.

Google “awnuts model trains” and the remnants of the group can be discovered. A bunch of old pictures are published on Pinterest.

On Christmas day 2016, in conversation with my son’s father-in-law, I discovered he is a builder of such model train equipment. He had […] Continue reading » A.W.N.U.T.S.

Experience 70

My 70th birthday is in a few days. I used to think that was old age. Now I know it is. But that’s OK of course, as it beats not getting or being there. Time and age advance with nothing I can do about it,

I notice I complain more about the things I cannot control. That’s a privilege of age and should use it wisely. I am going to have to pay attention and not abuse it (too much). Far better for me to work on the things I can change. That means by what I actually take action and do.

I like the tangible. Planning […] Continue reading » Experience 70

Bad Science

The public knowledge is being overrun and polluted by bad science in the name of entertainment. I am seeing it everywhere and although I can recognize it for what it is, I believe there may be a great number of people, especially our developing youth who don’t recognize it.

The entertainment almost always starts out with a “what if?” or “perhaps” and then a “maybe then…” The producers are very careful to not say what they are about to present has any truth or scientific method proof. Then it is a license for the imagination to run wild as a form of entertainment.

I received several emails from a fella named Peter Vukcevic. He works for a company Called First Site Guide.

His first email pointed out a broken URL link in one of my numerous blog sites. Websites change and URLs do go bad from time to time. I ask that when they are found for folks to please send me an email so I can get it repaired. Peter […] Continue reading » You Want to Build a Web-Site?

OneNote Saving Story

I usually don’t write directly to my blogs. Editing live online within a web page has some danger. I have lost considerable work from touching the wrong key and having everything disappear from the screen. I forget the golden rule in computers which is to save constantly.

I usually use Word or OpenOffice to write my posts. They work fine but are a far more powerful tool than required. I have rediscovered an MS Office tool called OneNote. It provides a host of organizing information features and centers around a simple text editing engine. The power is it can save multiple types of files in grouped […] Continue reading » OneNote Saving Story
