DO NOT USE THIS ISP!

Moving is tough

I going to talk about moving from one “shared server” Internet Service Provider (ISP) to another.

The first time I did it was at least 12 years ago. Possibly longer. The name doesn’t matter as I am sure they no longer exist. The service and support were so bad, I think it was a one-man operation with a rack of servers in his garage. I only had a few separate websites then. It seemed like a major event when I decided to move all my sites to a new ISP. They were all HTML websites with no databases to make things complicated. Basically, just an extended file […] Continue reading » DO NOT USE THIS ISP!

The K0BSR Ring

I was contacted by email from an amateur radio operator, Ben K0BSR, in Colorado. Hams reading this will know how to find out more about him.

He saw my silver work and wondered if I could make him an amateur radio callsign ring. I have made several versions for myself and my own radio call sign.

I asked him for suggestions and he came up with the idea that he wanted it to look like a portable HF radio. That seemed like a good design challenge for me.

I have been playing with three-dimensional printing and thought this was a great project to create using 3D printing to make […] Continue reading » The K0BSR Ring

Work Beyond 70

Seven decades now under my belt. The body is a little worse for wear, but that means it has been well used.  A little regular maintenance keeps it ticking. Ha! I have lost some weight since I retired which is a good thing – about 20 pounds.

My hobbies making things are returning a small profit. The silver work is the best. Check out KautzCraft Studio. It seems a bit crazy but folks are also paying for some of the 3D printing plastic things I make. I don’t openly offer them for sale, but I am receiving requests. Here is a link to the 3D Print […] Continue reading » Work Beyond 70

Love What You Do

The KautzCraft Studio (KC) is now my main retirement vocation. I wonder if that means I am not retired. Well, I feel retired so I will keep the designation. KC doesn’t provide me anywhere near a real income, but it does stop me from robbing banks. Banks, because that is where the money is kept… Ha! I think Willie Sutton is reputed to have said that.

I’d much rather be working with silver than in a chain gang.

I see an endless number of options and creations I can make while working in my studio. I like working with all kinds of materials with silver so far being the only […] Continue reading » Love What You Do
