Playing Possum

I just spent three days at Possum Kingdom Lake a.k.a. “PK” about 90 miles west of Fort Worth, Texas. The reason was one of those “manager retreats” some corporations use to “recharge” their present and future leaders. A good chance to have face to face relationship building between far flung and local team members. A good experience overall even if we didn’t have any time to spend on the lake itself.

The lake is a result of damning the Brazos river in a gorge area so the lake is rather narrow with steep cliffs on each side and is about 60 miles long. There is a beautiful view from the “Cliffs Resort” where we stayed. Here is one quotation I found why it is called Possum Kingdom Lake. “Area hills and valleys, post oaks, and cedars make a “veritable paradise” for possums around the lake.”  Well, that certainly doesn’t conjure up an exciting location in my mind. Must be a good story there as there are many very expensive ($1M+) homes on the lake.

One thing they do have is hundreds of deer roaming around. I saw dozens every night. I vote for a rename… Deer Kingdom Lake. ~ Dan’l
