It is December 6th and Frisco (north) Texas is at last feeling like the season of Fall, cool to cold mornings and sunny bright afternoons. Having lived 40+ years in northeastern Ohio and a few additional years in New Hampshire, Fall has always been my favorite time of year. The air, the smells, the weather and the color all seem to be a comfort to me.
There isn’t always the full leaf color change as in the northern climes but sometimes nature does present that magic show in N.T. (North Texas). There was some display this year. It seems strange to me that it is almost two months behind what I had become accustomed as a youngster.
Christmas is only 19 days away and New Year’s another week after that. Wow! Where has 2007 gone? It’s only Fall right? It seems that way now. The calendar says the first day of winter is December 22.
Winter weather is short in North Texas so I don’t have the dread of the long gloomy N.E. Ohio northern winter. Here in N.T. we usually have one total shutdown for an ice storm or an inch of snow and then it starts looking like Spring. Sometimes too soon, then Mr. J. Frost reminds Momma N she is early and to try again later. He tells her to check with Phil the groundhog, in Punxsutawney, PA on February the second.
Me? I think I will just stay indoors and work in my shop! Ha!
