That&#8217;s because XP has now started double checking everything I want to do with my system. MS just forced me to install a sofware verificaion tool in XP before I can get any more upgrades. I think\u00a0the update\u00a0also added a few more security measures. Times must be tough at MS. Their view just has to be that there are pirates with eye patches and parrots on their shoulders running around everywhere. Ha! I think the MS spin on this is to help push Vista, as I bet sales are not where expected.<\/p>\n<p>My corporate office PC has so much IT security running on it that it blocks many of the links I need to do my job. Built in XP security just stacks on more overhead.\u00a0I have to go home to do real\u00a0research.<\/p>\n<p>I guess the solution is to stay off Internet connections. Networking and communication is the conduit that delivers electronic vermon and XP updates to my personal computers. I need to go back to Ham Radio and Morse code where I can have total control of communication again. Well&#8230; maybe not.<\/p>\n<p>I keep a MAC mini online at home for most email and web browsing. I did the same with Linux when I was running it more regularly. The trouble with Linux is there are some Internet graphics and video that won&#8217;t run. MAC seems to run everything.<\/p>\n<p>My XP PC&#8217;s are doing a geat job for me. I am not about to trash them. But that quiet little baby MAC just sits there and blinks in sleep mode until I need it again. I never shut it off.
