It won&#8217;t be long before we start talking about RAM in that amount.<\/p>\n<p>What you see here is two dead 500 GB hard drives. The one on the left is a Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 and on the right is the just replaced (#2)\u00a0Western Digital Caviar Blue. Both are a little fishy.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, the SECOND WD\u00a0 drive has just failed. It is exactly the same as the drive it replaced (which was replacement #1 for the drive on the left) so it is probably a bad batch. It started the &#8220;clicking&#8221; of death about two days after I replaced it. It died completely today.<\/p>\n<p>You can bet I am not going to get the exact same replacement drive again. These are not hot high performance drives. 500 GB is meant for just storing data, not going to the races. No strain on these babies.<\/p>\n<p>There seems to be no end with <a href=\"http:\/\/dictionary.reference.com\/browse\/futzing\" target=\"_blank\">futzing<\/a> with my computers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I never dreamed 20 years ago I would be talking in terabytes of memory storage.
