There are two distinct camps. The largest is the \u201cWindows\u201d keyboard and the smaller group is the Apple Keyboard. If you want neither the selection becomes very small. I am not talking about anything critical here. Any style keyboard will work. The special function keys just don\u2019t get used. Therefore they take up space that can be used, or rather not used to make the keyboard smaller. Sometimes I just don\u2019t want an 8 x 19 inch keyboard hogging up my desk space. Know what I mean?<\/p>\n
Almost all keyboards have \u201cspecial\u201d function keys stuck on too. I remember when the initial F10 function keys were controversial and even more when they went to 12. The first MAC keyboard was as simple as they ever got. Well maybe the Atari 800 but that is digging back. That\u2019s when some keyboards were also the computer.<\/p>\n
There is also a cult like culture concerned about what is the proper feel and keyboard response when typing. Some of these cultists think the first IBM used on the early PC\u2019s was the only keyboard made correctly. Ha!<\/p>\n
Well anyway, I found a hacker\u2019s special that I ordered. It is only 4.7 x 11.6 inches and the function keys are built into the number keys. You have to push the function key so the number keys will work like function keys. That kind of makes sense.<\/p>\n
