I seem to always have a lot of irons in the fire. I am still working full time (plus) in my career work and that seems to be getting busier all the time. Large corporations are always changing in sometimes mysterious ways. Well, they seem mysterious when communication is not as good as it should be. Change is what all large corporations have to do and a lot of what I am involved in these days is called continuous improvement. That in itself is a commitment to change. So I work hard at improving communication about change and improvement. But like many big things, it is very slow and hard to push in a new direction.<\/p>\n
My personal life is fairly stable and that is a big help when I get away from the pressure of dealing with slow corporate change. However, I kind of spoil that relaxation because I am always trying, even at home to make sure I am making the correct changes for my future.<\/p>\n
The big wolf at my door right now is retirement. Just because I am the \u201cright\u201d age doesn’t mean I have to suddenly stop what I have enjoyed doing all my life. I’d rather make some sort of transition. My options are to act like grandma and let the wolf eat me right away or play the role of little red riding hood, examine the wolf, and then run off in another direction.<\/p>\n
So I have been looking around for that path less traveled.<\/p>\n
My plan is to be doing something I love and the best part is I will be total control. I will be using computer assisted manufacturing (CAM) in short run production and perhaps offering my own precision made products. I have a nice wrench I make for the Taig ER16 spindle I think is better than the Taig product.<\/p>\n
No rush. Nothing earthshaking. I have to keep it fun.<\/p>\n
I am currently trying various manufacturing methods and looking for the right market niche. I’ll be ramblin’ along, randomly musing and observing what’s on the road ahead. I’ll be posting more thoughts right here in my blog. Look out wolf!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
