What a great invention for humans to express ourselves with so little effort.

In the USA and many other world locations we have the freedom to publish what we write. However, that doesn’t mean that we are not libel for what we say. Slander is still slander and publishing government secrets is still treason. Freedom of speech is a privilege not an absolute right. We have courts to draw the line and that is how it should be.

The American news reporting business is another sorry abuse of rights and privilege. They no longer report the news, they try their hardest to create it. It is a shame how they force their opinions upon the US Public. News reporting at one time was called “commentary”. That was to separate true fact reporting from interpreted facts as the reporting source wants the facts to be understood. I consider news commentators reports on some legality cases the Vigilante Press spin.

Last night I witnessed a very sick and sorry display of vigilante media when the Zimmerman case verdict in Florida was being presented live on many networks. The so called free press had been hyping this case for more than a year. They turned it into a racist trial black versus white that would set nationwide precedent, or so they proclaimed. I believe it was all the vigilante press coverage that forced this Florida case to trail with very poor evidence.

Earth shaking it was not to be. The jury returned “Not Guilty”. The court room did not erupt in screams of protest. The accused did not dance and sing. It was all very calm and business like. It was just over. However…

The reporters were dumbfounded. Their jaws literally hit their chests. They were busily scanning every protest group and assembled persons looking for a demonstration upon which they could provide hours of coverage. There was NOTHING happening. Um… there were 12 people in Dallas I heard about today thanks to WFAA.com

The fact was no one really won. The state had simply not proven its case. The jury said so, not the assembled “sides” of the case, or the media. It finished the way it should finish in the USA, determined by the jury.

I was so upset with the effort of the news media long after the verdict with their continuing empty words and “blab” fill-in-the-space reporting as they were in my opinion now trying to raise some sort response “event” upon which they could fill their coverage time. I was sick to my stomach at their overt efforts. I had to turn off the television.

The news media has become so drunk on their powers and afraid of loosing influence with competition of social media (which has its own faults) they will do ANYTHING to create an event. In my opinion even incite a riot. That’s how it looked to me, so it’s my commentary.

Some of my family and many friends no longer watch television. I do with usual contempt for the news media. I have heard falsehoods reported many times because of ignorant reporters unaware of of the subject on which they report. Every disaster from the Boston bombing to the Waxahachie explosion is full of misinformation due to ignorance of the facts.

I think even the mighty networks need to be held libel for what they say. I don’t care about “first.” I want to trust factual unbiased reporting. Let there be bad news when there is bad news. Stop trying to create it. I think it will never be…

I write about what I am thinking as much as I write about what I am doing. I do a lot of both in my blogs.
