I am one of the oldies that has spanned the age of film and into digital photography. Not that my senior age allows that, as my daughter who is 25 years my junior, has made the same transition in her professional photography career.

No career path for me. I just enjoy the technical aspects of the skill, and the quality of the photographic results I can develop (Yeah, pun intended). The age of digital computing produced a whole new virtual “chemistry” of what can be created and I enjoy playing with all the options in the computer processes. I enjoy using the technical tools to create photographic art as well as the obligatory family snapshots.

I read a few of the blogs and forums about digital photography and the reviews on new equipment. It’s fun to see other photographer’s effort (photographs) and study the newest equipment. The open forum type comments are usually so biased, I can only wonder how the many trolls can ever enjoy the fun.

I comment in my blogs for my own enjoyment. I have nothing to “prove” in my hobby activities. Anyone can do whatever turns them on. I like to show what I do with what I have and can afford. It’s a highly personal choice. I have no intent to preach that my path is the only path.

Digital photos do not require printing to be displayed.

My display photo art gallery is electronic and will always be undergoing change. It’s just a playground to me and I like to experiment with the means of display as well as the photography art displayed. I have left the door open for anyone else to come in and look. The link is under the Dan’s Retreats in the left column titled “RD’s Photo Gallery”

I experimented with Facebook and other display sites but I find the lack of my personal control disturbing. For example, it is very difficult to delete photos from Facebook. To display there, many personal rights must be surrendered. On my gallery page, I have total control and freedom to change what I want. I don’t need Facebook.

Most of my photography efforts are displayed in my various workshop blogs. They are a photo rich environment and I post only the best photos I can produce. I receive many unsolicited positive comments on the photography in my workshop websites. That’s been reward enough.

So I created the digital gallery to handle the photography I create just for the art of the single image as well as to tell a progressive story. It’s there for anyone to explore. Come back occasionally to see what is new.

http://gallery.ramblindan.org/

I am enjoying exploring the art of amateur photography again, not that I ever stopped either exploring or enjoying.
