The title should grab ya! The THMStore will now be handling the Proxxon line of small German hobbyist tools. I have the full line available to me, but I will be advertising what fits my market or with what customers ask.
What has grabbed my attention is the few machine tools they offer. There is a small lathe PD230/E about the same capacity size as the Taig Micro Lathe but has a lead screw with hand-wheel. Another plus is the motor is built in. The quality looks great but I will not promote until I check one out.
I have ordered a much larger lathe, the PD400, that is not imported on a regular basis. The reason it is not imported being it is metric only and 220 volts. It is 1/4 inch smaller than a 7×15 lathe with 3/4 Hp motor. It has a lot more features I will explain in a future review, probably in several months.
The Proxxon mills are of interest, mainly because of their quill drilling feature. I have a new Taig manual mill in my shop with the big 1/4 Hp CNC motor and ER16 spindle. That is a killer manual mill. Not great for drilling but never intended to be.
I also like the Proxxon variable speed mini bandsaw. It looks like the perfect addition to the model maker shop for cutting parts from sheet brass and other materials. The water cooling is nice when cutting metal. I really like the variable speed and will eventually review the saw.
We are making progress… slowly
