I just posted the (new) THMStore update last night. It was a hard decision to change paths as both store systems have good features. What started me looking for an alternative is the rather poor way osCommerce handled PayPal accounts. (See previous article.) It was possible to pay for an item and it not be recorded in the store. I patched in a fix after extensive reading and tweaking. That is the work you accept in a fine running but public supported software. (I know all about that kind of software as I have run Linux for years.)
The new store software is eCommerce. It is a purchased program. I really like the feature set and has a very extensive discount (coupon type) feature. The best point is that I can develop new screens directly in Adobe Dreamweaver. I am really learning much better PHP coding for the Linux/Appache server. I still see some glitches in text imported from the old systems, but easily fixed.
Good news! Sales are picking up on the gear sets. ~ Danl
