Fedup With Fedora 18

Well, I finally got fedup. But it’s not what you think. Fedup is the update program for Fedora from version 17 to 18. I am fairly certain it means FEDora UPdate, FEDUP.

I down loaded and installed the latest version on my computer. Fedup runs from the command line. I was in graphics mode so I opened a command window and used sudo to run the fedup program as the administrator.

Full update instructions are on the Fedora site so it is not important to give the details here. In my case fedup downloaded the full update file package live (about 380 packages) over the internet in about 30 to 40 minutes or so. Then I rebooted and it took fedup about an hour to do the full update.

The next reboot was into a very nice looking 3D log in screen. I am now running Fedora 18. Cool! Look Ma! No disks required…
