I was just upgraded (free) by Microsoft to the full blown Windows 10 on my sandbox computer. I have been running the trial “Technical Version” for many months, but this last upgrade (by Microsoft) has brought me up to the full Pro version. The Technical Version number no longer appears on the desktop page.
It is still not able to sleep properly with my old Asus motherboard, AMD processor, and memory configurations. Therefore I cannot recommend Win 10 for that combination in a desktop computer without first stating that “Sleep Mode” will probably not work.
I like to use sleep as it works in WIN 7 on my main computer with an Asus motherboard and AMD quad core processor. On the sandbox machine with WIN 10, I have to go to full off and avoid using sleep mode.
I may continue experimenting with settings in sandbox as in the past I was able to get sleep working for a while, but with the frequent changes and upgrades Microsoft kept making, it would “break” again. With every upgrade Microsoft would reset all the defaults setting I had “tweaked,” back to their default settings. A bit frustrating for me.
Otherwise WIN 10 has proved every bit (a pun?) as good with any software I have loaded on it. It’s a keeper on my “play” sandbox machine but I doubt I will upgrade my prime machine from 7 to 10.
