Just a few days old here but I am beginning to see what this Blogging is all about. Thanks to the few that have already responded.
The way I see it at this moment is about half way between and conventional structured web site and a free form slow speed moderated chat board (only better). The Blog can venture off in any direction the owner and comments take it. The kicker is the viewer/reader can respond to what is presented by either adding more detail or asking questions or anything. Structure can be added as required.
There is the ability for adding hyperlinks or links to other blogs. Response is not limited to this section of hyperspace. For some folks this may be too much freedom, but I can see that it could become habit forming. I have been experimenting with several communication systems at work and the problem seems that even though my work place is highly technical and state of the electronic art, there is a fear of participation by colleagues. It may take a psychologist to explain fully, but I think there is a discomfort (for many) of writing for everyone to read and expose their personal or professional thoughts. It used to be called shyness.
The TEDEX forum is the same way. About 20 percent of the members participate. The rest are lurkers. I have seen that in many other communication situations. Classroom teaching is very similar. I am not complaining. That is just the way it is. We couldn’t live in a world tipped all in one direction.
SO, just reading along is fine. But if you are compelled to add comment that is what the Blog is all about. You CAN join in! Oh, you don’t have to agree either, but I do have control. 🙂
I suggest you explore other blogs if this one has grabbed your attention. This one is an embryo. A Google search will bury you in old chickens! I hope you stick around and visit here often. I hate to play to an empty room.
