Looking Below the Surface
Microsoft has produced something very nice. It’s the Surface series of tablet, laptop, and desk computers. They are not the lowest cost computers. Drive D: which is the boot disk on my big Desktop PC crashed and died on me in the middle of the morning on New Year’s Day. It was an, “OH NOOO… OMG!” moment. Computer basically just stopped working in its tracks. A reboot didn’t fix anything. Then I checked the boot setup and discovered the drive now fails the S.M.A.R.T test when it first starts up.
