Blogs like this one are intended to be a form of social communication. However it seems my generation is not so comfortable in expressing themselves in such an open and permanent format. I admit I don’t fully understand the text message craze. Something like Twitter is just nonsense. It’s a daily log of every action you take through the day. “I’m eating a piece of bread now…” Who cares?
The Ramblin’ Dan is an occasional post of what is going on in my life and mostly my hobby interests. I even created a separate blog for my workshop activities. I don’t post much about my “real” job as an Energy Services Manager. I could but just haven’t. Maybe later on…
Blogging for me is mostly a one way diary. A few readers do reply, proving there are a few. Lots of Spam gets canned.
Before I changed to the new format (Alaska Pictures at top) each of my post would say, “No Replies” at the bottom of the article. That meant that no one had yet replied to my post. Then one day I realized what I was reading. I looked at “No Replies” and realized it looked like an instruction that I did not want to receive replies; “DO NOT REPLY!”
This current page format says, “Leave a comment”. That is much more reader friendly. Yes, you can leave a reply if you are registered. The registration doesn’t track you or gather private information. It just provides spam control and that works very well.
When someone asks me, “What have you been doing lately, Dan?” I of course talk to them, but I also drop the hint to go check out RamblinDan.org if they want to stay current. A few of my old friends do know how to turn on a computer. They still believe a cell phone is just for talking.
Hi Dad! I’m leaving a comment! How ’bout that! 🙂
Love ya! ~Shelley
