I have been working on a new project since last weekend. This time not in the machine shop. I am pretty good at photography and digital processing. I have developed (pun intended) a sideline converting wet process photo albums and photo collections into digital images and then producing a premium grade photo book publication. This sideline has been discussed previously in this blog.
My daughter did a couple of albums from my (our) stay in Alaska, which are outstanding keepsakes. Much better than a wet print album. That got me started doing my own. She used a MAC and I am currently using a PC. The computer brand doesn’t matter (but I love the new IMac 🙂 )
There are a lot of old photo collections out there and folks willing to pay to have them converted into archival book quality. If you have the hardware and an eye for photo adjustment, there is lots of work to be had.
Oh, there is one little problem. I have to totally restrain my anxiety while processing hundreds and thousands of poorly composed, out of focus, blurred, mundane “snapshots” that have become someone’s family treasures. Not everyone is an Ansel Adams !
