Excessive/Aggressive Marketing Semantics

The Hermitage – No advertising!

When is marketing/advertising excessive?  Every day is the correct answer.

Every external world contact activity is crammed with marketing propaganda to make people dissatisfied with their present condition. It’s gone far beyond creating simple product/services awareness.

How we look, how we smell, what we own, how we are educated, everything we are “missing” in life! It is never ending pressure to trade our financial resources (spendable present and future incomes) for what we must have NOW!

In a previous life (before retirement) I was a DMA (Dealer Marketing Advisor) My job was to help our corporate dealer (agents) market and sell our […] Continue reading » Excessive/Aggressive Marketing Semantics

Presidents’ Day Texas Power Outage 2021

Infrequent zero-degree Fahrenheit Texas Winter weather brought the Texas power grid to its wobbly knees. My home in Frisco, Texas (just North of Dallas) suffered a 36-hour continuous total outage with zero (0 F.) degree outdoor temperatures.

My home is total electric (100%) with no other energy source. When indoor temperature dropped to 50 degrees F. we were forced to abandon home. I was in total panic of water system freeze and extreme property water damage due to frozen water pipes.

Faucets were left dripping but no assurance of the home not going below 32 degrees for an extended period and total water freeze occurring. This would severely damage […] Continue reading » Presidents’ Day Texas Power Outage 2021

MX Keys User Report

I am using a new keyboard for my MAC-mini. Made by Logitech, it’s called the “MX Keys for Mac”. Yeah, it’s a very long name. Check out the specifics HERE. No need to duplicate the information in this computer linking age.

They also have near identical versions of “MX Keys” for other OS computers.

Logitech makes a great variety of keyboards, mice and accessories. All pretty good. I have several other Logitech types.

This post is because I am very pleased with how this MAC version keyboard “feels” in operation.

Back in ancient history, the only “good” keyboard was the “Cherry” clickey, long travel mechanical […] Continue reading » MX Keys User Report

Register.com

These folks took over my domain registrations from reg-discount.com.  I think they may have been one-in-the-same but there is no way I can verify that.  I don’t know whom to ask…

But in any case, all my domains were suddenly switched to Register.com. At first I thought someone was hi-jacking my domains as they did a very poor (like zero) effort to inform before the fact.  That’s why I assume they may be the parent company of my original registrar.

Nothing crashed  or stoped working so the transition went well, other than the surprise and a bit of dismay on my part.

The new “High […] Continue reading » Register.com

Giant Suck

Raw Sewage

I have abandoned Facebook for (I think) the third time.

FB has some good points and I enjoy keeping in touch with “real” friends and family. I do not judge my self-worth by how many long-lost and stray-cat “friends” want to join me.  My real friends know how to otherwise keep contact with me if they desire.

The political climate and vicious personal  attacks have driven me away again. The fraudulent advertising is also no attraction. There is more raw sewage in Facebook than I can withstand. I don’t desire the exposure when it is so easy (and hard) to just turn it off.

It […] Continue reading » Giant Suck
