Barbarian Tweets

CONAN the Complainer

I am constantly amazed by the lack of language literacy from the people whom represent many of the complainers posting negative user reports and user forum comments. They often struggle to put two words together in a logical sequence. Much like a barbarian tweeting.

But then, one does not need to be literate in English to complain.

Some are obviously struggling with English because it is not their native language. English is definitely tough to master. I don’t fault those who try to communicate in a second language.

What I can see is that many of the poor writers are […] Continue reading » Barbarian Tweets

Moved Again!

I have posted on this before. (I have used this picture before, about a year ago…) Not wanting this to be a re-occurring theme. I had to switch web-hosting services again. Web hosts are service companies that provide access to the internet.

Moving 20 (some) websites and many with a necessary separate database (WordPress and Joomla for example) is a major effort. This is at least the fifth time I have made a major move. The last three in just the last several years. Enter “move” in search box at top of page.

I have some critical websites on AWS (Amazon Web Service) “cloud” private […] Continue reading » Moved Again!

Urban Drone Delivery Systems?

I am certain that widespread urban and suburban “Drone Package Delivery” is a system that will never be implemented. It is an urban legend/myth that is perpetuated only for its publicity factor.

Technically, it is possible. So is the flying car. They are both in the same category. Technically possible, feasibly impossible.

Imagine a kid running out the front door, smacking into a drone hovering a few feet off the ground with sharp knife blades at eye level spinning at 20,000 RPM. (The propeller lift system)

It is also (at present) a one package per trip system. Drone size is dictated and limited by fixed and […] Continue reading » Urban Drone Delivery Systems?

Stealthy Prime Delivery

A strange thing happened with a recent order of coffee from Amazon Prime. Invisible delivery.

As I always do, I placed a “next day” (for Friday) Prime order for my usual 100 count, box of “coffee pods” for my Kuerig K-Cup brewer.

I was down to a two-day supply about 5 K-Cups. No problem as delivery here in the Dallas area is very fast.

The order was processed very quickly. As usual, I started getting delivery updates via text message which again was absolutely normal. Text messages are an opt-in feature for prime members. Sometimes, it seems like an overkill of tracking. But it […] Continue reading » Stealthy Prime Delivery

Abusive User Reports

There are a lot of trolls and grinches is the world of consumer user reports. Also, some ignorant users who have no qualms about revealing their ignorance because they have no clue how ignorant they are. The concept of finesse in using a product or tool escapes them. Their world is “plug and play”. Problems or failure is never their own. Blame always belongs to the product or maker. They enjoy a sense of “empowerment” to cast a minority negative vote on a generally good product.

In some cases, negative user reports are attempted user blackmail against the seller. “Do what I […] Continue reading » Abusive User Reports
