GTI Upgrade

I had a 2008 VW GTI Turbo I had purchased new. It is posted HERE in this blog.

The 2008 has been a wonderful fun car to own and drive. I really had no intention of trading unless there was a very good offer. Saying that, I just replaced it with virtually the same vehicle. Above are the pre 100 mile photos of the new 2012 VW GTI Turbo I just brought home. The same spot I took the pre 100 mile photos of the 2008 and other vehicles I have owned in the last 15 years. (Dodge RAMs).

The front end shape and looks are a bit different on the 2012 GTI. Inside there is now a Navigation system. Overall it is a more expensive car than the 2008 but with lower (2.00%) interest, a great trade and zero money down I am actually paying $80.00 a month less for this brand new car. There is also three years of free regular maintenance and I get a 20% VIP discount on any parts.

The Standard warranty was less than 1000 miles from expiring although I still had a lot of miles/time on the drive train warranty. What made me do the flip was the realization that after I paid the old car off, I would have a 6 year old car, no warranty and probably not a lot of retained value. Fixing an old turbo car out of pocket (if needed) could make the investment worthless. It’s not like the days when I could fix them myself.

I’m happy and proud to show it off…
